The History of The Union Beach Soccer Association

The beginning of this great soccer club........

Footballer Edgar Woodrow co-created the Union Beach Soccer Association league back in 1976 with a vision of promoting soccer “football” in the USA for future generations at the Jersey Shore. Before immigrating to the States by way of Limerick, Ireland – he was a Footballer in the Republic of Ireland having played competitively as a right wing/striker throughout the country. He was a founding father of the International Football Club the Ballynanty Rovers FC Football Club in Ireland circa 1955 alongside other International Footballers that would go on to play n the global scale. The Rovers continue to play competitively to this day earning titles.

Footballer Thomas “Tommy” Dougan co-created the Union Beach Soccer Association league back in 1976 with a vision of promoting soccer “football” in the USA for future generations at the Jersey Shore. His knowledge and physical football strategy and plays were known throughout the region and was second to none. He immigrated to the States from Derby County, England in 1962 where he played competitively as a center forward in the English leagues alongside other footballers. He continued to play competitively until he was sidelined by a knee injury.
